Mantis doesn't have this feature right now.

Hm, I wish this ticket and its duplicate would not be closed this fast, with this answer.

We're using Mantis with email for years already, and would have switched long ago if it didn't allow for this. We're doing almost all communication with clients through email with the issue number in the subject line like this:

Subject: [0008984] Adding notes to existing bug via email

See http://www.mantisbt.org/bugs/view.php?id=4286 for a long history of that feature including submitted code. I also submitted some code that we use to make it work with IMAP (http://www.mantisbt.org/bugs/view.php?id=7086).

I tried as you suggested as [0001208] from mail but with release 1.1.1 a new bug is created instead the note add to bug 0001208.

Any idea.Thanks in advance

if in the subject is formatted as follow "[mantisbt 0001212]:" the new note is added to the existing bug.

if a mail gets notified "as to be a note" depends on the function mail_is_a_bugnote(), which checks the mail subject against a regex term.

The original term identifies subjects starting as mentioned in 0008984:0017418.

Is it possibile when a note is added to a exiting ticket not to change the status to new but to keep the actual one.

There has been a fix for that in the 0.7.x (unsure exactly which one) version of EmailReporting (0004286). So just install the latest version available (currently 0.8.0).

I'm afraid MantisBT 1.2.0 is required

in 0.9.0 you can select different methods for searching for the id in the subject line.
