Summary | 0009197: Versioning/roadmap across all projects
Description | Is it possible to have a single version list across the whole system rather than one for each project. We have a single software product but have a project set up for each client we sell the software to. It would be great if we could create a version which is then available to all projects. The when we clicked on roadmap or change log it would give us all the issues for a version irrespective of which project it came from. I imagine people want to have the option of unique project versions so perhaps a new concept of a global version would do the trick. another possible solution would be the ability to copy version, but when a roadmap is being built it matches all versions across projects together.

I agree with this, and I'm planning to create a plugin for Mantis that allows the user to create a "product and version matrix", which will allow single bugs to be tracked against multiple products and versions at the same time. In this sort of case, the existing project/version system will become more of a "project group" and "milestone" system, and the changelog/roadmap will specify exactly what you are looking for. |

Cascading versions (added to 1.2) to sub-projects allows for much of what this issue requested. Marking issue as resolved. |
I have change my Mantis production instance to version 1.2 but I can't find nothing about this feature. How can I use Cascading versions? Where I can find any information/documentation/help about this function? |
This new feature is enabled by default. Any versions created in a parent project will be selectable for found-in, target, and fixed-in version fields for bugs reported in child projects. |
Thanks for information. Now works great! It was only necessary to set categories inheritance in existing projects. |
Whilst cascading versions are selectable for sub-project issues, it looks like the roadmap will not display these issues, and treat them as not having a product & target version assigned to them. can you confirm? |
Yes, it is. This problem is reported in 0010873 issue. For me is not a big problem. I use external tool which generate changelog into pdf file. |

thanks traptak - I will watch the other thread, looks like its being worked on, which is great. Do you know by any chance if the intended behaviour on the parent roadmap is to show all child projects' issues as a single list (which is what I would prefer), or broken up into project segments? |
